Columbia Pike pet festival planned for this weekend
Columbia Pike Pet Show “Paws on the pikeReturns this weekend after being held almost last year.
The event by the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO), now in its fourth year, will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Centro Arlington Apartments (950 S. George Mason Drive).
It will offer a mix of pet friendly activities and a meet and greet to help locals connect with nearby animal service providers and vendors.
For those who are starting to wonder what to do with their pets during the holidays, the fair will offer locals the opportunity to meet animal keepers and boarders.
Pets will be available for adoption from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington and other rescue organizations.
“Join us for a day of pet fun and meet your vets, trainers, pet sitters, boarders, dog walkers, groomers and more,” CPRO said on its website. “Find your lifelong friend at a local shelter or stock up on homemade treats, there is something for every pet parent.”
Planned activities include a ‘pup-arazzi’ photo shoot with a professional photographer taking free portraits of pets. Pet owners should register in advance for a photo shoot.
There will also be a DJ and a ‘water bar’ to allow the animals to taste a selection of different types of water. At 2 p.m., Pastor Ashley Goff of Arlington Presbyterian Church will be on hand to bless the animals with a brief prayer.
