Dogs in the spotlight at the HRKC show
Hundreds of four-legged competitors and their handlers were on hand for the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club’s all-breed dog shows, obedience and rally trials, which took place July 29-31 at Carrie Blake Community Park. .
The shows were held in memory of Chris Cornell, the club’s longtime president of obedience and rallies, who died in early June.
Cornell was helping the HRKC prepare for the agility rally and obedience trials June 3-5 at Carrie Blake Community Park, and was less than three weeks away from judging the seventh annual Masters Obedience Championship at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York.
The July 29 competitions included 770 dogs (818 entries in total). On July 30, 844 dogs were competing (total 892 entries) and on July 31, 831 dogs were entered (total entry 878).
The event included a demonstration of Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dog Dancing featuring teams from Washington State, Oregon and British Columbia.
