MUTTS Cantina à Allen is now open
Is your dog your perfect dinner date? Well the Hybrid Dog Park and MUTTS Restaurant in Allen might just be the “place” you are looking for. MUTTS Canine Cantina has just opened its new location in Watters Creek and serves burgers, chicken and drinks to dogs, dog owners and dog lovers.
When you first arrive at MUTTS you are greeted by a large gray and yellow building surrounded by fences at the back. The facade of the building is adorned with covered outdoor seating with bright yellow picnic tables and a window for ordering.
At the rear is the dog park, with two separate fenced areas; one for small dogs, one for large. In both areas, dogs can run off leash and socialize with their owners and with each other behind the safety of fences. The large dog park has a second order window, but food ordered must be consumed in front of the building.
The large dog area also contains a covered patio with TVs and a seating area where you can enjoy a beer or a mixed frozen drink, like their pomegranate lemonade, which is the perfect balance between sweet and tangy, or the Barkarita. , made with orange liqueur and agave tequila.
Along with standard American fare such as burgers, chicken fillets, and chicken sandwiches, MUTTS offers better quality fast food for humans and even treats for dogs, including “pupsicles” and a small bite of beef. frank called “doggie dog”.
Regarding people’s food, we tried the Skinny Mutt, a grilled chicken sandwich with American cheese and the restaurant’s “MUTTS sauce”. MUTTS also serves a “dog hair” breakfast on weekends, with menu items like a BLT breakfast, mimosas, and bloody marys.
Mutts is open to anyone and their canine companion, but the dog park is only for day pass holders and members. When it comes to meals, dogs are welcome to join their owners on the front patio for a meal, but they cannot be left unattended in the dog park, so if you are planning on taking your best friend for lunch, prepare to be seated together.
To kick off their big opening celebration, Mutts Cantina recently held a competition for an internship, or “puptern” as it’s called, that pays $ 100 an hour. The winner, Anneleise McEvoy, acts as a brand ambassador and gets some play time with the dogs to boot. Not a bad gig.
McEvoy won the role, posting a photo of herself and her own puppy on Instagram. New to Dallas, McEvoy says she adopted her dog as company and soon found herself hanging out at dog parks where she developed a network of local friends. This fondness for dog parks and their sense of community prompted her to participate in the MUTTS competition.
Monthly and annual subscriptions are available to use the park (anyone can dine at the restaurant with or without their dog) as well as day passes. Prices vary depending on the length of membership and the number of dogs per membership.
