Steinbach RCMP provided additional information on what transpired last week Friday during the execution of a search warrant in the rural municipality of Hanover.
Police informed the public on Saturday that while searching for stolen goods, police dog Mack was injured by another dog. Mack was taken to a vet for non-life threatening injuries, while the other dog was shot and died on the spot.
Today the RCMP provided more details. During the execution of the search south of Steinbach, three stolen motor vehicles, a stolen motorcycle and a stolen license plate were found.
Police said many car parts had been removed from some vehicles, indicating the property was being used as a cutting shop.
A high-powered rifle stored in a dangerous location was also recovered during the search.
Police note that the exact age of the accused person is a 41-year-old man, who was arrested and released for a court appearance in November. He will be charged with five counts of possession of stolen property and one count of unsafe storage of a firearm.
