Detroit’s warmer lake months unveil a world of mountain biking. Feel the rush on the trails and wooden ramps, and get some air on the elevated features of Detroit Mountain, where you can rent your bike. Hop on horseback for a ride with a view at Timberline Ranch, just minutes from the Detroit Lakes. Rides begin at age 5 and the horses can accommodate anyone weighing 225 pounds or less. Daily trots are available at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Guides lead you through a beautiful wooded gorge and along hills for panoramic views. In its 25th year, Timberline Ranch is open May through September.
